TIDE at cc Vondel in Halle last night!
TIDE has premiered!!
Together with Eivind Lønning we premiered our duet TIDE on the 9th of September in kc Nona - a charming theater in the heart of Mechelen, Belgium. Tickets were sold out and we had a great time! Thanks to all of you who came for making it so special, and thanks to everybody who has supported us on the way!
This has been an inspiring collaboration. Eivind Lonning is a fantastic musician. A trumpet has endless possibilities of sound in his hands!! We decided early on that we would not use his usual mutes and in return he discovered several other creative ways of muting... It was interesting to explore different sound textures vs movements and their possible relations in such a thorough research, but we worked two months on the creation. TIDE has a clear structure but is an improvised piece at its core. This gives a great excitement when performing it and it is different every time. Be welcome to any of our upcoming performances!!

Pianofabriek
Last couple of weeks me and Eivind worked on TIDE in the rooftop studio of Pianofabriek, Brussels. It was relaxing to work in July when most people are on holiday. Time feels different. The streets are empty. The weather was good and the city a lot happier than in the rainy season / rest of the year. The warmest day was 35°C - Pretty Hot. The structure of the piece melted together. We are excited! We need to find costumes. We have two more weeks in residency before our WORLD PREMIERE OF TIDE which is happening at KC NONA in Mechelen on the 9th of September - Safe the date and see you there!! :)

These days Im up on Iceland and working on the performance TIDE together with Norwegian trumpet player Eivind Lønning!! Last week we had a residency at Sláturhúsið in the east at Egilsstaðir. This weeks its Dance atelier in Reykjavík. Its great to be in Iceland and see family and friends in between rehearsals. For our showing in Egilsstaðir my grandfathers sister unexpectedly showed up... she is 87 years old!! I was incredibly touched that she came (she heard about it on facebook!!) and I think she enjoyed to see what we were up to... although she was not convinced that we could make a living out of it.. :) Im happy that I manage somehow.
Tomorrow it will be our 2nd showing of work in progress at 16.00 in the Dance atelier, Reykjavík! Pass by if around!

Fox-Heart
This Thursday and Friday I perform Fox-Heart at 19:00 at Scenehuset in Oslo. This 40 min solo is a part of Nordic-Score: Escape and Transformation by Norwegian choreographer Janne-Camilla Lyster. The entrance is free, but reservations are recommended through jannelys@online.no
IRAN
In two weeks I will be teaching "action research" and " movement design" in Tehran Iran through the University Theater festival. I will also perform The Lover in a version without the scenography. Im looking forward to be back in Tehran!!

The yearly DAY OF DANCE arrived in Belgium (a week earlier than most other places?.. but well)! I will go and participate in MY WALKING IS MY DANCING - a slow walk organised by Anna Theresa de Keersmaeker ( P.A.R.T.S. & ROSAS).

Fox-Heart in Oslo

Hunter and snow, needle and knife danced by Cecilie Lindeman Steen and Fox-heart danced by Bára Sigfúsdóttir will be performed at Scenehuset in May 2016. Both solos are adaptations of Janne-Camilla Lyster's choreographic score Escape and Transformation, which premiered at Dansens Hus, Oslo, in November 2015. This will be a unique chance to see the adaptations in a solo setting at beautiful Scenehuset in Oslo!
The entrance is free but reservations are recommended.

ICELAND
Last week I spent some nice days in Iceland where I gave classes at the Reykjavik Dance Atelier (Dansverkstæðið), and the Icelandic dance company which is currently under the artistic direction of Erna Ómarsdóttir. I also met up with the energetic team of Reykjavik Dance Festival as we are planning to bring The Lover to Reykjavik. In between I went demonstrating almost every day with up to 20.000 people (7 % of our nation!!) to protest in front of our parliament that our prime minister and a few other Icelandic politicians have been hiding away money from the tax. In wish for a better future here, there and everywhere. More art, more equality, more nature and more peace. x
New creation - TIDE
Today was my first day in the beautiful studio at Scenehuset in Oslo to work on a new creation:
TIDE - the alternate rising and falling of the sea due to the attraction of the moon and the sun
I will be making this piece in a close collaboration with the very talented Norwegian composer and trumpet player Eivind Lønning. I am incredibly excited for this process, to say the least!!!
We will Premiere TIDE at kc NONA in Mechelen on the 9th of September 2016!!!

The Lover visits Casino - Koksijde
It was refreshing to arrive by the seaside of Koksijde yesterday and breath in some fresh cool air before warm up. Last night was our second last performance with The Lover for this season in Belgium. Luckily there are more to come and it looks like we will be crossing boarders further away than the Dutch one.. But for now - next time to experience The Lover is right HERE in the neighbourhood of Brussels!! Below some photos from yesterday! xbára
